QB. California. Jared Goff. 2. player. 53.
The blockbuster deal pulled off by the Rams and Titans puts the Browns in a very interesting spot. On one hand, Cleveland’s choice is made for them in that they simply will get the “other” quarterback after Los Angeles presumably tabs their guy for the future. On the other, what if the Browns don’t want that quarterback?

Cleveland hasn’t quite tipped their hand at this point, but with Carson Wentz off the board as the presumptive pick of the Rams (and the higher-rated player by McShay), we land with the number two signal-caller in California QB Jared Goff. Many, many people feel as though Goff should actually be the first quarterback taken, so the Browns can take solace in that.

He is the safer option as a multi-year starter in the Pac-12 and Goff is unquestionably the more accurate passer at this very moment. With that said, Goff’s ceiling is lower than Wentz’s because of athletic and body limitations, and the offense that he played in at California doesn’t resemble an NFL offense in any meaningful way.

There is also the option that the Browns could simply take their highest-ranked player (Joey Bosa? Laremy Tunsil?), but all signs point to Cleveland wanting their next “guy” at the most important position on the field. With that, we have to give them a quarterback.
