NFL Mock Draft 2016: Taking a swing in Los Angeles
By Brad Rowland

45.
There is value and there is value.

A’Shawn Robinson is one of my favorite players in this entire NFL Draft class, and there is a reason for that. He was regularly dominant during his time on the field at Alabama, and even with defensive line partner Jarran Reed going much higher in this mock, Robinson possesses the higher upside by nature of his ability to get after the opposing quarterback from the interior. Off the field, Robinson screams to just about everyone as a man, from looks to the fact that he was clearly a leader on the national title team for the Crimson Tide.

It seems wild to me that Robinson would fall this far, but McShay isn’t alone in seeing him as a prospect that falls outside the top 25 and the fits were not perfect for the few picks previous to this one. In Denver, though, Robinson can step in to the considerable void left by the recently departed Malik Jackson (who signed for a Brinks truck full of money in Jacksonville) without skipping a beat.

The Broncos are in the same boat as teams like Carolina and Arizona in that they could just take the best player available here and keep it moving. In my mind, though, that player actually is A’Shawn Robinson, and unless John Elway is smitten with a quarterback like Paxton Lynch, this pick makes the most sense by a wide margin.
. DT. Alabama. A'Shawn Robinson. 31. player
This is the final pick of the first-round, the New England Patriots were stripped of their pick in the penalties for Deflategate.
