Detroit Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy has been fined by the NBA for publicly criticizing officials.

Stan Van Gundy has never been one to be afraid to speak his mind and sometimes it costs him in the checkbook. During ABC’s coverage of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Detroit Pistons Game 1 of the first round of the NBA Playoffs, Van Gundy wasn’t happy with the way officiating was, especially concerning LeBron James and decided it was a great time to air his grievances.

Well just like any time a coach criticizes an officiating crew, Van Gundy is paying for his words. On Monday, Van Gundy was fined $25,000 for his criticism, according to Arash Markazi.

The $25,000 is the standard fine for when coaches say something about officials and for Van Gundy’s sake, he should hope that airing his grievances was worth it. The Pistons played a great game against the Cavaliers on Sunday, and proved that the young talent they have are going to be tough to eliminate.

Despite all of this, Van Gundy didn’t like the calls being made and probably will still have plenty to say despite a lighter wallet.
