Bret Hart is scheduled to make his return to the WWE at Payback in May after successful prostate cancer surgery.
The best there was, the best there is and the best there ever will be is making his return to the squared circle. Bret “The Hitman” Hart will return to the WWE on May 1 for the company’s Payback pay-per-view.
This is the first appearance for Hart since he had prostate cancer surgery in February.
According to ESPN’s Arash Markazi, Hart will not be fighting, but will be in the corner of his niece Natalya who is fighting WWE Women’s Champion and the daughter of Ric Flair, Charlotte, at Payback.
Natalya is the daughter of Hart’s sister Ellie Hart and his former tag team partner, Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart when they were The Hard Foundation. The two-time WWE tag team champions broke up when Hart pursued his solo career that is arguably the greatest in WWE history.
Hart’s return to the WWE is perfect because of his old rivalry he had with Ric Flair. Hopefully, we’ll get to see The Hitman take the mic and address the crowd to thank them for lending their support his way as he battled cancer. And, to stoke the flames of the Flair-Hart rivalry.
When Hart won his first WWE heavyweight belt in 1992, he did so after beating Flair, something I’m sure neither great wrestler has forgotten. Could we see a Hart beating a Flair for the second time to become a champion?
No matter the outcome of the match, it’ll be a win for Hart, his family and army of fans to see the legendary wrestler back with the company.
