NFL Draft Rumors: Tennessee Titans looking to move up
By Nick Ziegler
Recent NFL draft rumors have been surrounding the Tennessee Titans’ interest in moving back up in the first round after trading away the first overall pick.
Recently, the Tennessee Titans pulled off a blockbuster deal with the Los Angeles Rams which sent the No. 1 overall pick to Los Angeles for a haul of draft picks. The main piece that the Titans got in return this year was the Rams’ 15th overall pick in the first round, but that might not be where the Titans want to be making their first selection.
According to Jason La Canfora, the Titans are aiming to get back into the top 10 of the first round, and with the assets the Titans have, that should be relatively easy for them.
With the Rams holding the first overall pick now, it means that a quarterback will be taken first overall, whether that be Carson Wentz or Jared Goff. The Titans were projected to take left tackle Laremy Tunsil by many with the first overall pick before they traded it, and that could still be their target since he is likely to slip a bit.
Last year, the Titans were able to select Marcus Mariota to hopefully be their franchise quarterback, and finding a left tackle to protect their most valuable asset makes a lot of sense. In addition to Tunsil, Ronnie Stanley of Notre Dame is also another great option in the draft at left tackle, and would cost the Titans less to move up into his projected range in the draft.
While it seems like tackle is what the Titans seek in the draft, the Cleveland Browns are the team that could throw a wrench in their plans, as they are looking to move down in the draft depending on what quarterback the Rams take. With uncertainty around the No. 2 overall pick in the draft, the time leading up to the draft will continue to be very interesting. With the Titans’ interest in Tunsil and a slew of picks, they could be the team that jumps into the Browns’ spot at No. 2 overall to select their left tackle.
