5. New England Patriots

Let’s get the crazy idea of the way first. Actually, the New England Patriots going after Josh Norman doesn’t seem to crazy. They don’t have a first-round pick and could use another star back in the secondary if they’re going to make another strong run at a Super Bowl.

What makes it difficult for the Patriots to go after a guy like Norman is their lack of cap space. Without a first-round pick in the draft, they don’t have to sink as much many into draft picks as they normally would have to. However, after the additions of Chris Long and Martellus Bennett, the Patriots don’t have much to pay.

However, Bill Belichick is the king of swinging moves and shifting cap space. If the Patriots can clear some space and structure a deal in a way where Norman gets paid more down the line, then perhaps the two sides can come together and make a deal work.

The Patriots for years have been able to attract the top talent to their roster and it’s almost a move that goes from crazy to making too much sense. Don’t sleep on them because of their current cap figure.

If they really want him, they’ll figure out a way to go get him.
