NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players.
Luis Severino has never faced the Athletics, so you wont see any A’s players below.

Best Bets:
James Shields ($8,700): Yes, I am aware of who else is pitching tonight, but take a look at these stats that the Pirates have had against James Shields. They are hitting a despicable .138 against him in 65 at bats with only one homer, two RBI, and 18 strikeouts. For the money, it gets no better than this. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is the highest scorer of the night. By the way, Matt Joyce is responsible for all of the homers and RBI off Shields. He has also struck out five times in eight at bats.
Dallas Keuchel ($9,400): I came close to putting Arrieta here, but Keuchel has at least held the Rangers to a ..221 average in 222 at bats. If you take out Josh Hamilton‘s 7-18 and Shin-Soo Choo‘s 6-23, that drops to .199 with three homers and 16 RBI with 36 strikeouts. I also love his win potential against A.J. Griffin.
Honorable Mention:
Jake Arrieta ($11,100): The Reds have a good average off of him (.267), but they have not hit a home run and have struck out 15 times in 60 at bats. Still, there may be more bang for your buck elsewhere tonight. Arrieta is still on here because he has the best strikeout potential of anyone going tonight.
Marco Estrada ($6,800): This is for those of you that like to take a little chance. Let’s get this out of the way: Estrada will give up some runs, likely via the home run. He has allowed seven of them in just 88 at bats to the Orioles. The silver lining is that the Birds are hitting only .182 off of him with 25 strikeouts. There is upside here, especially facing off with Chris Tillman, whom the Jays have hit hard.
Dark Horse:
Brandon Finnegan ($6,400): Finnegan gave up just one hit to the Cubbies back on April 11th, but he also gave up two runs. He did strike out five, earning a 17.4 score on the DraftKings points system, which is a solid value. Can he do it again?
Next: Who Are The Best Stacks?
You have heard our FanDuel experts Matt Rogers and Brian Tulloch talk about “stacking” pieces of a lineup against certain pitchers. Here are the stacks that could work well on DraftKings today, based on past statistics.
Edinson Volquez has been beaten up a little by the Tigers. They are hitting a robust .317 off of him in 120 at bats, but have only taken him deep once. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t still players worth stacking against him. Miguel Cabrera ($4,300) is 5-8 with three walks, a double, and two RBI. Nick Castellanos ($3,200) is 3-9 with two walks, a double, and four RBI. Ian Kinsler ($4,100) is 6-17(.353) with a walk, a double, and four RBI. Justin Upton ($4,400) is 8-17(.471) with a walk, four doubles and three RBI. Anthony Gose ($3,300) could be a bargain. He is 5-11 with two walks, a double, and a solo home run off of Volquez.
Chris Tillman has given up a ridiculous 16 home runs to the Blue Jays in 214 at bats. You know there are some good stacks in there! Jose Bautista ($5,100) is 11-39(.282) with five walks, three doubles, three homers, and seven RBI. Josh Donaldson ($5,200) is 7-23(.304) with a walk, three doubles, a homer, and six driven in. Edwin Encarnacion ($4,800) is 16-49(.327) with three doubles, three walks, three homers, and four RBI. Kevin Pillar ($3,800) is 6-16(.375) with a double, three homers, and five RBI. Michael Saunders ($3,700) is “only” 3-11, but he has two homes and three RBI. Even Ryan Goins ($2,700) could be a nice, cheap option. He is 9-23(.391) with a homer and two RBI off of Tillman. You can’t afford all of these guys, but I would definitely use at least two of them.
Go ahead and stack some Royals against Mike Pelfrey. Lorenzo Cain ($4,300) is 7-14 with two doubles and four RBI. Eric Hosmer ($4,500) is 4-10 with four walks, a double, and a RBI. Kendrys Morales ($4,000) is only 2-10, but does have a two run homer. Mike Moustakas ($3,900) is 4-12 with three walks, a homer, and four RBI. Looking for a bargain? Try Omar Infante ($2,900). Infante is 17-41(.415) with three walks, a triple, and three RBI off Pelfrey.
Next: More Notes For 4-20
Try this short stack of Astros against A.J. Griffin. Jason Castro ($3,100) is 4-12 with a double, two homers, and three RBI. Jose Altuve ($4,900) is 4-11(.364) with a walk, a double, a homer, and two RBI.
Jacoby Ellsbury ($3,900) and Carlos Beltran ($3,400) have hit Rich Hill pretty well in limited action. Ellsbury is 3-5 with a homer and three RBI. Beltran is 3-8 with a homer and two driven in.
The Orioles don’t hit Marco Estrada well (.182 in 88 at bats), but when they do, they hit him hard. For those of you chasing homers, there are possibilities here. Ryan Flaherty ($3,000) is 2-7, but both of his hits are home runs and he has five RBI. Manny Machado ($5,000) is just 1-9, but that hit is a home run. Same with Mark Trumbo ($4,200). His only hit in four at bats is a two run homer. Chris Davis ($4,900) only has one hit in eight at bats, but, you guessed it, it was a two run shot. Jonathan Schoop ($3,600) may be the most reliable option. He is 2-6 with a solo home run off Estrada.
Playing Reds against Jake Arrieta is a risky proposition, but Jay Bruce ($3,900), Brandon Phillips ($3,400) and Billy Hamilton ($3,200) all have a pair of RBI against him.
Josh Hamilton was really the only Ranger that hit Dallas Keuchel well, but Prince Fielder ($3,900) could be worth a look. He is 7-25(.280) with a walk, two doubles, a homer, and three RBI against Keuchel. Adrian Beltre ($4,500) is only 9-40(.225), but he has three walks, three doubles, a home run, and three RBI.
