Twitter went absolutely nuts over the Eagles trading up for the second overall pick in an attempt to get a franchise quarterback.
The Philadelphia Eagles just made an impact move by trading for the second overall pick in the draft. The Los Angeles Rams traded up to the first overall pick to get a quarterback, and it seems like the Eagles are following suit.
The only problem is this is a weak quarterback class. A move like this would’ve been warranted in last year’s draft, when Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota were there, but there’s no chance that Carson Wentz and Jared Goff will be franchise-caliber players like them.
This is, by all accounts, a bad move by the Eagles, and one that sent Twitter into raptures:

If the Eagles were hoping to land Goff, Sam Bradford might actually be a better option. Jalen Ramsey may be worth trading up to that spot, but it’s not worth swapping a first-round pick for a fourth-round pick with the Cleveland Browns. The Eagles better know what they’re doing, or else the fans will turn on them quickly — although it seems like some already have.
