Patrick Peterson throws shade at Josh Norman on Twitter
Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson threw shade at cornerback Josh Norman on Twitter after his franchise tag was rescinded.
There was a shocking move in the NFL on Wednesday when the Carolina Panthers decided to rescind their franchise tag from cornerback Josh Norman, which ended up making him an unrestricted free agent. With Norman playing a big part in the Panthers’ success last season, it was shocking to everyone that the two sides couldn’t eventually come together on a deal that would see Norman stay in Carolina for the long term.
While teams with cap space and without cap space are scrambling to see what they can do, there are plenty of people who have an opinion on Norman’s franchise tag being rescinded. Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson, who is one of the superstar defensive backs of the league, took to Twitter to briefly share his thoughts before deleting them.
A couple of seasons ago, Peterson signed the highest paid deal for a cornerback with the Cardinals. His tweet clearly is throwing shade at Norman, who thought he should be paid a lot more than the Panthers were willing to offer. There’s also the matter of the top cornerbacks in the league all thinking that they’re the best and it leads to deleted tweets like this.
Perhaps his tweet was also a result of the fact that Peterson is good friends with former LSU wide receiver and current New York Giants wide receiver, Odell Beckham Jr., who was suspended after an altercation with Norman during the season last year.
When Peterson was asked why he deleted the tweet he responded with this response.
Whatever the case may be, while people will scramble to pay Norman, there are probably a lot of players that feel the same way Peterson does. However, they might be better at not tweeting about it and letting it be.
