The Philadelphia Eagles have acquired the second overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft from the Cleveland Browns.
Several teams were calling the Cleveland Browns about the second overall pick, looking to move up in the draft to get one of the top two quarterbacks in the draft. It turns out that one of those teams was the Philadelphia Eagles. The two teams have agreed to a trade that will send Cleveland’s first round pick to Philadelphia in exchange for a number of draft picks.
Philadelphia did relatively well here considering that they only gave up three picks within the first two rounds. Compared to other trades for top three draft picks, that’s a fairly cheap price. Whether it will prove to be worthwhile for them to move up to the second spot to draft Jared Goff or Carson Wentz (whoever the Los Angeles Rams do not draft) remains to be seen.
Cleveland did well here because they get a ton of draft picks. That gives them a chance to rebuild quickly and add a ton of talent to the team in a short period of time.
