Tampa Bay Buccaneers troll Carolina Panthers over Josh Norman
The shocking decision by the Carolina Panthers to rescind the franchise tag on Josh Norman drew quite a reaction from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Unable to come to an agreement on a long-term contract extension, the Carolina Panthers rescinded the franchise tag on cornerback Josh Norman on Wednesday.
The decision to pull the tag makes him a free agent and he can sign with any team with the cap space and the cash to give Norman the $16 million he and his agent are asking for.
Norman and his camp are looking to blow up the market for cornerbacks considering Darrelle Revis, Patrick Peterson and Richard Sherman make less than what Norman is seeking, you can understand how Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman made the move.
It’s a decision was still met with a great deal of surprise, however. It also caught the attention of NFC South division foe as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In response to the news tweet from the NFL.com handle, the Bucs showed that the use of emojis on social media can tell the whole story that may not fit in 140 characters.
If Norman gets out of the NFC South and signs a big-money deal elsewhere, you can bet the Buccaneers will share a smiley face emoji because that should help the development of second-year quarterback Jameis Winston and third-year receiver Mike Evans.
The Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints are also beneficiaries of this news and Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, Drew Brees and company won’t have to worry about one of the league’s top corners locking them up.
