Kevin Durant sends one home in the first quarter against the Dallas Mavericks

Did you have any doubt at all that Kevin Durant was going to come out with a vengeance after his putrid shooting performance in an 85-84 Game 2 loss to the Dallas Mavericks?  The Oklahoma City superstar forward went an absolutely startling 7-for-33 during their loss on Monday, tying Michael Jordan for the most missed shots in a playoff game in the last 30 years.

Durant, who took 11 threes last game, seems to have decided on a different strategy, going straight to the rack for the high-percentage shot on this play.

Number 1 in white with the lead around his ankles would be Mavericks rookie Justin Anderson who may have been more concerned with Russell Westbrook’s pregame dance routine than stopping one of the league’s most dangerous offensive threats. Neither Anderson nor reserve forward Charlie Villaneuva disrupted the OKC point guard’s ritual prior to Game 3 as many believed they would after it appeared to help in some capacity with the shocking Game 2 road upset.

Heading into Thursday’s game, the Thunder and Mavericks were tied 1-1 after two very different games. The Thunder blew out the Mavs by 38 large in Game 1 then dropped a defensive battle by just one after Oklahoma center Steven Adams’ last second put-back attempt was deemed too late.
