Following the Miami Heat’s Game 2 victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night, the rookie, who tallied 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting to go along with a block, wandered onto (local) television screens everywhere—emphasis on “wandered:”
It’s not entirely clear whether Richardson was early, late or just showed up to the wrong place. But you can tell this isn’t a contrived prank. He looks genuinely confused as he saunters onto the set, checking his phone, only to look up and then realize where he is and what’s happening.
His facial expression is absolutely priceless—the combination of confusion and embarrassment, as if he was just informed that he’s been Punk’d despite not being famous enough to actually be Punk’d:
As Richardson gets mic’d up and the interview actually begins, he still doesn’t seem to know that this is being broadcast live, for all his friends and family and teammates and critics and stalkers to see. To his credit, he composes himself and carries on the rest of the question-and-answer session like a champ.
He also exits like one.
In honor of his “unorthodox” behavior at the beginning, he rips the mic off his shirt, drops it and backpedals off the set.
