OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - FEBRUARY 8: Mitch McGary

Mitch McGary stepped in as security for Russell Westbrook and Cameron Payne’s dance after what Charlie Villanueva did last time around.

Before Game 2 of the Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Dallas Mavericks, Russell Westbrook and Cameron Payne did their usual pregame dance. However, Mavs player Charlie Villanueva wasn’t having any of it, so he tried to step in to break it up. This led to Westbrook shoving him, creating a minor altercation. Villanueva later said that if the star guard wants to dance, to ‘go to a night club’.

Well, so nothing happened before Game 3 on Thursday night, Thunder reserve Mitch McGary made sure the perimeter was secure so Payne and Westbrook could dance. He had the look (due to being on the bench) and played the part of the bouncer.

There was no sign of Villanueva anywhere, so this dance went uninterrupted. That doesn’t mean there won’t be a confrontation later on, though, if Villanueva even makes it into the game (he didn’t play during Monday’s game).

With how good Westbrook is, who cares if he dances? Let the guy have some fun. Just make sure Mitch McGary is there at all times and maybe that will scare away Villanueva from stopping the fun and games again.
