Who will represent the American League in the 2016 MLB All-Star Game?

While the 2016 MLB season is just getting underway, it’s never too early to start thinking about who might be participating in the Midsummer Classic.

One of the highlights of any season, the 2016 MLB All-Star Game will take place on July 12 at Petco Park in San Diego. Fan voting will determine the nine position player starters (and Final Vote recipient) while a combination of player voting and managerial selections will determine the rest of the 34-man roster.

The American League has won the last three All-Star Games and ten of the last 13 overall since the infamous 2002 tie. While the National League may have the starting pitching advantage, the AL will feature another intimidating lineup for the second consecutive year under manager Ned Yost.

Fan voting always leads to plenty of debate, but last year was particularly contentious. The Kansas City Royals held the top spots for eight different positions late in the voting process,] and finished with four starters overall.

After winning the World Series later that year, Royals fans will be back out in full force. The Toronto Blue Jays should also expect a huge fan voting turnout after last year’s memorable run to the AL East title.

Even if  a couple of deserving players lose their starting spots, the AL will still have a great mix of veteran talent and rising young stars throughout the lineup.
