NBA Playoffs: Clippers vs. Trail Blazers Game 2 recap, full highlights
The Los Angeles Clippers coasted to defeat the Portland Trail Blazers in Game 2 of the first round of the NBA Playoffs.
For two teams that can drum up a lot of points in a hurry, the Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Clippers got off to a slow start on Wednesday night. The Trail Blazers struggled to find their shot early and scored just 17 points in the first quarter.
While Damian Lillard is usually the reliable shooter for the Trail Blazers, the Clippers were doing a good job of rotating on him and keeping him uncomfortable on the floor. As Lillard struggled to hit his shot, the Clippers started to find themselves on a little bit of a roll.
Chris Paul wouldn’t have the best shooting night, but his ability to crash the boards and make assists really opened up the floor for his teammates. In the second half, Paul began to find players like J.J. Redick, who started to find a little bit of a stroke.
In the third quarter, the Blazers would pull within single digits and it looked like it would turn into a close game, but the Trail Blazers just could knock down their open looks from beyond the arc. They once again failed to score at least 20 points in the third quarter and this keyed a run at the start of the fourth that allowed the Clippers to run away with the game.
It wasn’t a pretty night for either team on the floor, but the Clippers played great defense and were able to shut down a dynamic scorer in Damian Lillard. The Clippers would finish off the Trail Blazers in the closing moments and once again coast to yet another victory in Game 2, to take a 2-0 series lead.
