NHL Playoffs: When is Dallas Stars vs. Minnesota Wild Game 5?
The Dallas Stars will attempt to win their series in Game 5 against the Minnesota Wild on Friday, April 22.
The Stars entered Game 4 with major pressure on themselves, having lost pathetically to the Wild in Game 3. If Minnesota won the contest, they would tie the series at 2-2, stretching out the series much longer than anticipated.
The Wild had the edge in their offensive zone draws in Game 4, but any traction they developed quickly faded by the middle of the second period when they were shut down by the superior Dallas offense. The Stars, namely Ales Hemsky, Patrick Eaves and Jason Spezza, scored all three of their goals within the second period, despite the immense force exerted by Minnesota’s defense.
With over two minutes remaining in the third period, the Wild pulled Devan Dubnyk from the crease, as if they knew the game was over already.
The series returned to Dallas’s American Airlines Center this Friday, April 22 for Game 5. Now leading the series 3-1, the Stars will surely hope to gain their final victory in their own rink. The Wild will most likely fight until the end to stretch out the series, but perhaps their defensive apathy by the end of Game 4 was but a sign of the attitude they will have in the next game.
Who do you think will win Game 5? Will it be the new Minnesota franchise with the Wild avoiding elimination or the old Minnesota team with the Dallas Stars advancing to the second round?
Game 5 will be aired on Friday on NBC Sports Network.
