NHL Playoffs: Lightning advance, fans react on Twitter
A look at a few fan reactions from the Tampa Bay Lightning’s first round series win over the Detroit Red Wings.
For the second consecutive year, the Tampa Bay Lightning advanced past the Detroit Red Wings in the Eastern Conference first round playoffs with a 1-0 win in Game 5 on Friday night at Amalie Arena.
The series was closer than you might expect given how quickly Tampa Bay was able to advance, as only the Lightning’s Game 5 win was decided by more than one goal. Detroit actually outplayed Tampa Bay in Game 5, but were turned away by Lightning goalie Ben Bishop, who made 34 saves. It was also one of the most physical and brutal series of the first round, with huge hits and a few line brawls.
Naturally, Lightning fans took to Twitter to celebrate their team heading to the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Tampa Bay will await the winner of the series between the Florida Panthers and New York Islanders in Round 2.
