Orioles’ Joey Rickard lines shot through Josh Donaldson’s glove (Video)
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Joey Rickard lined a shot through Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson’s glove.
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Joey Rickard has some power. On Thursday night, Rickard put his power on display against the Toronto Blue Jays. With Rickard up at the plate looking to do some damage with the bat, Rickard lined a shot right at Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson.
Donaldson appeared to catch the ball, but then it ripped right through his glove into the outfield for a single. Donaldson was almost in shock that a ball was hit so hard that it went completely through his glove.
Donaldson would have to leave the game to get a new glove to play with, while the announcers quipped that a player should catch the ball with their palms and not the webbing of the glove.
While that’s certainly true and would have helped, no one would have anticipated a ball being hit so hard that it ripped through the webbing of a glove.
Rickard has some serious power in his bat. Just ask Donaldson, who now how has to break in a brand new glove.
