VH1 will pay tribute to the late, great Prince with special programming blocks from April 21-24.

The music world lost an icon when Prince passed away this week, and just about everyone is doing their best to cope by remembering him any way possible. For MTV, that meant actually returning to its roots with music videos, and sister station VH1 is gearing up to do something similar.

The cable network announced today that it will air Purple Rain, Prince’s most notable movie, as well as blocks of Prince videos. In fact, those plans are underway even as this post is being typed, with the first airing of Purple Rain at 5:30 pm Eastern on April 21.

Here’s the complete schedule for the VH1 Prince tribute:

Thursday, April 21:

5:30 PM ET/PT – Purple Rain

8:00 PM ET/PT – Prince Music Video Block

10:00 PM ET/PT – Purple Rain

12:30 AM ET/PT – Prince Music Video Block

Friday, April 22:

12:00 PM ET/PT – Purple Rain

10:30P PM ET/PT – Purple Rain

This writer would personally like to see even more videos, especially since there’s no way to see most of them legally online, but considering Purple Rain also contains several of his best songs ever, it’s a welcome sight as well.
