Who will represent the National League in the 2016 MLB All-Star Game?

Just a few weeks into the new season, the races to earn a spot in the 2016 MLB All-Star Game are already shaping up.

The 2016 MLB All-Star Game will take place on July 12 at Petco Park in San Diego. Fan voting will determine the eight position player starters, while a combination of player votes and managerial decisions from Terry Collins of the New York Mets will be used for the rest of the 34-man roster, including the starting designated hitter.

Continuing an era of dominance, the American League has won three straight All-Star Games and 10 of the last 13. While the AL looks like it will have a superior lineup once again, the dynamic NL pitching staff is more than good enough to stop the Junior Circuit’s win streak.

The NL roster could feature the likes of Clayton Kershaw, Max Scherzer and Jake Arrieta, who have an argument as the top three overall starting pitchers in baseball right now. That’s not to mention Noah Syndergaard, who looks unhittable in the early going  after adding a 96-mph slider in the offseason.

Fans of top NL teams likes the Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals will be out voting early and often to give their respective players a leg up in the race for a starting spot. However, the NL also has arguably the five worst teams in baseball this year, and the rule that every club gets a representative will keep a few deserving players out.

These 34 players have the best chance to represent the NL in the Midsummer Classic in 2016.
