After a 5-0 Game 4 loss the New York Post went right after Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist.

Thursday was a very bad day for the New York Rangers and their fans as the Rangers lost 5-0 to the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 4 to fall behind 3-1 in their first round series. Plenty of people deserve blame for the embarrassing loss but the New York Post decided to go after Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, who allowed four goals on 18 shots on goal before getting pulled, on its back page.

While Lundqvist allowed four goals, it is hardly his fault that the Rangers lost. It’s impossible to win in the NHL if you score zero goals, which the Rangers did. Perhaps the New York Post should be blaming the forwards and defensemen instead of Lundqvist, especially after everything that King Henrik has done for the Rangers.

Lundqvist will have to carry the Rangers if they want to advance in the Stanley Cup playoffs. This is not the first time that Lundqvist has found himself in this situation. In fact, he’s been in it in each of the past two postseasons.

Back in 2014, the Rangers trailed the Penguins 3-1 in the second round. Last year in the playoffs, the Rangers trailed the Washington Capitals 3-1 in the second round. New York bounced back to win each time due to Lundqvist.
