Yoenis Cespedes made yet another ridiculous throw to home plate.
Yoenis Cespedes has been a key contributor for the New York Mets since being traded from the Detroit Tigers in 2015. He helped them reach their first World Series in 15 years last season with his power bat in the middle of the lineup.
Something that the Cuban outfielder may be better known for is his arm. He has shown it off over the years to gun down baserunners with absolute ease. These throws usually fill up a good handful of highlights every season.
One more throw can be added to the reel, as Cespedes picked up a line drive hit by AJ Pierzynski and gunned it straight to catcher Travis d’Arnaud. No bounces involved either, making this a perfect throw. The ball also was positioned toward the 3rd base line so d’Arnaud could tag out Nick Markakis at home.
"We’re going to have to start giving runners a 10-second head start against @ynscspds.https://t.co/TK6EdFWiI2— MLB (@MLB) April 23, 2016"
Now that is fantastic.
This play was huge too because there were two runners on base. If Cespedes wasn’t able to get Markakis out at home plate, the inning would have kept going with the possibility of the Braves scoring more runs to close the gap on the lead.
This surely isn’t the last we’ve seen of Yoenis Cespedes’ cannon of an arm this season.
