Blues fans in St. Louis spared end of Game 6 loss to Chicago Blackhawks
By Nick Tylwalk
A power outage knocked out the St. Louis station showing Blues-Blackhawks Game 6, which might not have been a bad thing for Blues fans.
If you already know your team is going to lose a key playoff game, is it really a bad thing to not be able to see it play out? That wasn’t a rhetorical question for St. Lous Blues fans in the St. Louis area on Saturday night, as they weren’t able to watch the end of their team’s 6-3 loss to the hated Chicago Blackhawks.
As reported by The Sports Daily, KSDK, the team’s hometown NBC affiliate, lost power with only a few minutes to go in the third period. Granted, that would have been a horrific thing if the Blues had made a dramatic late rally, but as it turned out, the Blackhawks were the only team to score before the final horn.
The Blues probably wish they would have been able to skip the end of Game 6 themselves. Up 3-1 after two periods with a glorious chance to eliminate one of their arch-rvials, they proceeded to give up five unanswered goals.
The series between the two teams is now knotted 3-3, and while Game 7 is in St. Louis, that might be enough to blunt Chicago’s confidence or the team’s suddenly potent offense. If it looks like the series is going to end badly, maybe KSDK will consider just bailing on the signal even without a power outage as a reason for it.
