The Detroit Lions have selected offensive tackle Taylor Decker with the 16th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Taylor Decker is one of the best offensive tackles in the 2016 NFL Draft, and should be able to start from day one. Decker decided to stay in college last season to try and help the Ohio St. Buckeyes repeat as National Champions, but those efforts came up short in 2015. He was still able to have a great 2015 season, as he was the Big 10 Offensive Lineman of the Year. After a great college career, the time has come for Decker to make the jump to the NFL.
Height: 6’7”
Weight: 310lbs
40-Yard Dash: 5.23
Notable Stat: Starting left tackle on 2014 National Champions
Decker may never be a superstar in the NFL, but the three-year starter at Ohio State should be a very solid offensive lineman at the next level. In 2013, Decker was the starting right tackle for the Buckeyes before moving over to the left side for his final two seasons. With his versatility to play both tackle spots, Decker is a very good prospect in the draft.
Decker brings a lot of starting experience to the NFL from a winning program at Ohio St, and can be a starter from day one. The size and speed of Decker will be a great addition to the offense line in 2016. The Lions have needed to upgrade their offensive line for a while, and Decker should be a good building block moving forward. Decker is best-suited to play right tackle, as he will improve one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL.
