NFL Draft: 5 reasons Cowboys should not take Ezekiel Elliott

Here are five reasons why the Dallas Cowboys would be unwise to draft Ezekiel Elliott.

The Dallas Cowboys own the fourth overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Combine that with owner (and general manager) Jerry Jones’ tendency to make moves based on headlines rather than based on team needs and Dallas is in a unique position. They are a team that have numerous needs, but at the same time, Tony Romo isn’t getting any younger. That could tempt Jerry Jones to make a bold move by drafting running back Ezekiel Elliott out of Ohio State with the fourth overall pick.

Jones would be very unwise to make that move. It would be a move that would sum up his hugest flaw: his inability to consistently make football moves that are logically sound. Elliott has the potential to be an outstanding football player, but he is not what the Cowboys need — especially that high in the order.

If Jerry Jones is wise, he stays away from Elliott and addresses some of the Cowboys’ other needs at the 2016 NFL Draft. With so much talent available, drafting Elliott would draw the ire of Cowboys fans. Here are five reasons that the Cowboys should not draft Ezekiel Elliott in the 2016 NFL Draft.
