NHL Playoffs: When is Stars vs. Wild Game 6?
The Dallas Stars will attempt to clinch their series against the Minnesota Wild in Game 6 on Sunday, April 24.
The series returns back to Minnesota on Sunday after the Stars failed to secure a home win. The home ice advantage favored the Wild, giving them a 5-3 win in Game 3 of the series, and the burst of energy the players have demonstrated in the last few games suggests that they will be invigorated by their fans yet again.
Wild center Mikko Koivu earned the win for Minnesota, first scoring the game-tying goal with 3:09 minutes left in regulation, pushing the game into the series’ first overtime, and then getting the the game-winning goal in OT. The Wild one Game 5, 5-4, extending the series to Game 6.
Dallas forwards Jamie Benn, Jason Spezza, and Alex Goliogoski produced three of the four goals for the Stars, with Johnny Oduya surprising all with his first goal in 55 games at the end of the first period. Though the Stars failed to outscore the Wild, they clearly outplayed them, producing 85 shots in regulation while their opponents managed around 45. Additionally, the Dallas defense was seemingly performing above and beyond expectations, with John Klingberg and Stephen Johns becoming essential figures in each Dallas Stars play. Before Game 6, the Stars need to bring back the offensive threat they represented in the regular season and find a new way to execute their shots on goal.
It is currently unknown whether Antti Niemi will continue to start in goal for Game 6 or if Kari Lehtonen, who started in the first three games of the postseason, will take his place.
Game 6 will be aired on Sunday afternoon on NBC.
