A look at the result from Saturday night in the battle between Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez and McWilliams Arroyo
Saturday night HBO, as they’re having a free preview weekend, brought us two of the bigger names in the sport of boxing. While a lot of the attention is on Gennady “GGG” Golovkin in the main event, the fact of the matter is that possibly the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world took the stage before him, Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez, who puts his undefeated 44-0 record with 38 KOs and his WBC Flyweight belt on the line against McWilliams Arroyo.
Arroyo comes into this fight with slightly less experience, with an overall record of 16-2 with 14 KOs. But the fact of the matter is that he has a huge opportunity here on Saturday night inside The Forum to be the first man to put down Chocolatito.
All things considered in this one, Arroyo didn’t fight a bad fight by any means. He stuck around in there a lot better than most have with Chocolatito. But the fact of the matter is that he was in the ring with a man that some consider the best in the world right now.
If anything, he can consider it a win that he ended the 10-fight KO streak of Chocolatito, but in the end, he would eat the loss via unanimous decision and Gonzalez remains still undefeated, moving now to 45-0 in his career.
Official results from Gonzalez vs. Arroyo: 119-109, 119-109, 120-108, all in favor to the winner by unanimous decision, @chocolatitobox
