Evan Turner misses wide-open layup (Video)

Boston Celtics forward Evan Turner missed a wide-open layup against the Atlanta Hawks.

Evan Turner had an embarrassing moment that he would like to probably forget against the Atlanta Hawks in Game 4 of the first round of the NBA Playoffs on Sunday.

After Turner got out in transition with the basketball and had no one to beat on the floor, it looked like he was going to have all the room he needed for a big slam or a layup. He went with the safer option in the layup, but he couldn’t even make that.

As Turner went up with two hands in some sort of weird layup and slam combo, the ball bounced off the back off the rim and right back to the Hawks for the rebound.

It really seemed like it was a big moment and he couldn’t decided what to do with the basketball on the play. The shot being unorthodox is enough evidence of that, as he could have just done an easy layup off the glass.

Perhaps he felt the footsteps of the defenders closing in on him. Regardless, that’s a play that’s going to be getting plenty of play for the wrong reasons.
