NHL Playoffs 2016: Jonathan Huberdeau snipe puts Panthers ahead (Video)
Jonathan Huberdeau gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead early in Game 6 with a wicked snipe.
The Florida Panthers entered Game 6 knowing that they must win the game as they were down three games to two to the New York Islanders. Late in the first period, the Panthers broke through thanks to forward Jonathan Huberdeau, who scored his first postseason goal on a wicked snipe to give his team a 1-0 lead.
That goal happens because of an Islanders turnover created by forward Jussi Jokinen. Jokinen gets the puck to Vincent Trocheck, who is able to chip it to Huberdeau. The Islanders didn’t let Huberdeau get the goal easily. He had to fire the shot under contention by Islanders defenseman Travis Hamonic. It was a silly snipe that got a bit of a lucky bounce as it deflected off an Islanders’ defenseman, leaving goaltender Thomas Greiss completely out of position to make the save.
Huberdeau had a breakout season in his fourth season in the league. He had his first 20 goal season and also set a career high in points with 59 while also tying his career high in assists with 39. Huberdeau also had a career best +17 plus-minus rating with a career best 174 shots on goal.
