Play was stopped during the Spurs vs Grizzlies playoff game on Sunday.
Updated: Play has since resumed and the Spurs lead the Grizzlies 47-45.
The San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzlies started playing Game 4 of their opening-round NBA Playoffs series on Sunday. The Spurs are up 3-0 and look like they will sweep the Grizzlies unless the injury-riddled home team can spur a miraculous comeback.
During Game 4, the Spurs were leading after the first quarter. However, fans watching on TV may have noticed their screen freeze, go dark and head to commercial. The feed would then be cut to the ESPN NBA studio with the announcement that there was a power surge at the FedEx Forum, causing everything to go out. This was apparently the cause for the surrounding areas as well.
The arena is dark with play waiting to return.
This obviously isn’t good as fans will have to patiently wait for the game to resume. Plus, the players who already warmed up and were playing over a quarter of the game will have to find a way to stay fresh. Any momentum during the early portions of the game will be gone too, so maybe the Grizzlies can find a way to get some points and create a comeback.
