DraftKings MLB Picks For April 25

There are 13 games on the slate tonight, so that means a lot of stats to go through, and a lot of tough decisions to make. Who should you spend on? Let’s hit the stats!

More from DraftKings

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players.

The current White Sox have only faced Marcus Stroman ten times. Cesar Ramos is expected to make a spot start in place of Cole Hamels. Do you trust him against the Yankees? I don’t either. The only Met Raisel Iglesias has faced is Neil Walker (who is 1-5 against him). Ross Stripling has never faced the Marlins.

Best Bets:

Noah Syndergaard ($11,400): Not only has Syndergaard been dominant this year (2-0, 0.90 ERA, 0.95 WHIP), but he has dominated the Reds in his career as well. The current Reds lineup is a pathetic 3-34 (.088) off of him with eight strikeouts, no walks, and not even an extra base hit! I trust him more than Bumgarner right now, and he is $600 cheaper.

Madison Bumgarner ($12,000): He is expensive, but he is playing the Padres. Not only are they struggling this year, but they have never hit Bumgarner well. They are only hitting .200 in 140 at bats against MadBum with two homers and 10 RBI while striking out 43 times. Bumgarner has not been particularly sharp this year, but he may not need to be against San Diego.

Honorable Mention:

Jordan Zimmerman ($8,200): Zimmerman hasn’t exactly dominated the A’s, but he still has not given up an earned run this season, and the A’s have struck out nine times against him in 45 at bats. Chris Coghlan has four of the five RBI off of him, but it’s in 22 at bats. I would roll the dice a little with Zimmerman. He has been very reliable so far.

Ian Kennedy ($8,800): The Angels are only hitting .239 against Kennedy in 46 at bats, but they have homered off of him twice. He has managed 11 strikeouts though, and has been very good so far this year. He is likely worth the risk.

Dark Horses:

Kendall Graveman ($5,900): Graveman has held the Tigers to a .231 average in 26 at bats, but only has one strikeout. Don’t expect huge numbers here, but he could put up decent ones if you would rather spend on offense.

You have heard our FanDuel experts Matt Rogers and Brian Tulloch talk about “stacking” pieces of a lineup against certain pitchers. Here are the stacks that could work well on DraftKings today, based on past statistics.

Stacking against Zack Greinke may not be a great idea, but there are a couple of Cardinals hitters that may be worth looking at. Greinke has a 5.25 ERA so far this year, so that makes me a little more comfortable here. Matt Carpenter ($3,800) is only 4-14(.286), but he has two walks, a double, and two solo homers. Matt Adams ($2,800) is 2-6 with a double, a homer, and two RBI against Greinke. Matt Holliday ($3,100) is only 7-28(.250) against Greinke, but he has two walks, two homers, and five RBI against him.

Should you stack against Chris Archer? Chris Davis ($4,400) is 5-14(.357) with six walks, two doubles, two homers, and six RBI against him. Jonathan Schoop ($3,500) is 4-7 with a double and a solo home run off of Archer. Manny Machado ($4,600) is 9-22(.409) with three walks, a homer, and three RBI against him. Even J.J. Hardy ($3,000) is 5-15 with three RBI off Archer. More? How about Matt Wieters ($3,100). He is 6-18 with three RBI against Archer as well. A stack may be worth while.

Evan Gattis ($3,500) is only 3-11 against Tijuan Walker, but he has two homers and four RBI. Jose Altuve ($4,700) is 6-19(.316) with two doubles, a homer, and two RBI against Walker. Colby Rasmus ($4,100) is 5-10 with two doubles and a solo homer against Walker. George Springer ($3,800) is 3-9 with a walk, a homer, and three RBI off Walker. It seems like a good day to stack Astros.

Yes, it’s a pretty small sample size, but it is hard to ignore how well the Red Sox have hit Julio Teheran. Brock Holt ($2,700) is 3-4 with a double and a solo homer off Teheran. Mookie Betts ($4,600) is 3-4 with a double, a triple, and a RBI. Xander Bogaerts ($3,400) is 2-3 with a RBI. The Sox as a whole are hitting .357 against Teheran. This could be a good stack tonight.

This will be Kevin Gausman‘s 2016 debut tonight, and it is against a team that has had some success against him. Logan Forsythe ($3,400) is 4-5 with a walk, two doubles, a home run, and three RBI against Gausman. Kevin Kiermaier ($3,100) is only 4-16, but he does have a homer and two driven in. Evan Longoria ($3,300) is 6-18 with three walks, a double, a homer, and four RBI against Gausman. They could chase him to an early shower tonight.

Jason Kipnis ($3,500) is 6-15 with a double, a triple, and a RBI off of Tom Milone. Mike Napoli ($3,700) is 5-14(.357) with two walks and a solo home run. Carlos Santana ($3,600) is 5-15 with a double and a RBI against Milone. There may be something here against the lefty for Cleveland.

Derek Norris ($2,800) is cheap, and he is 8-23(.368) with a walk, a doubles, a homer, and five RBI off of Madison Bumgarner. If you are looking to go cheap, Jon Jay ($3,100) is 5-11(.455) with a walk, three doubles, and two RBI against the Giants ace.

Nolan Arenado ($5,000) is 6-11(.545) with two walks, two doubles, a homer, and four RBI against Jeff Locke. He is absolutely worth it today.

Hunter Pence ($4,300) is only 2-9  off of Drew Pomeranz, but both of those hits are home runs, and he has driven in five. Buster Posey ($3,900) is 4-5 with a walk, two homers, and three RBI against Pomeranz. Despite his dominant last start, these two may be worth paying for.

Josh Donaldson ($4,700) is only 3-11 against Chris Sale, but he has two home runs and six RBI. He is likely worth the risk.

Brian Dozier ($3,900) is 9-18 with two walks, four doubles, two homers, and four RBI against Danny Salazar. He is the only Twins player worth using today, and he is cheap enough to provide a good bargain.

Nelson Cruz ($4,600) is 8-23(.348) with four walks, two doubles, a home run, and three RBI against Doug Fister. Surprisingly, he is the only Mariner that has a good history against Fister, but don’t rule out some teammates making some today.

Lorenzo Cain ($3,500) is 5-11(.455) with a walk, three doubles, a home run, and three RBI against Garrett Richards. Looking for a cheaper option? Alex Gordon ($3,100) is 4-6 with a double and two RBI off Richards.

Albert Pujols ($3,500) is 2-7(.286) with a walk, a double, a homer, and two RBI against Ian Kennedy. Yunel Escobar ($3,000) is 2-4 with four walks and a solo home run against Kennedy.

Yasmany Tomas ($3,400) is 3-5 with two doubles and three RBI against Jaime Garcia. He is the only Diamondback with a really good track record against Garcia.
