Marc Gasol advises his older brother Pau Gasol to play for a rival of the Memphis Grizzlies in the San Antonio Spurs when he hits free agency this summer.

The Gasol Brothers are two of the very best big men in the NBA today. Pau Gasol has won two NBA Championships as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, and is now with the Chicago. Marc Gasol has been the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year anchoring the Grit N’ Grind Memphis Grizzlies the last several seasons.

With the elder Gasol brother (Pau) entering the twilight of his Hall of Fame NBA career, the younger of the two (Marc) has a strange take on where his big brother should play in 2016-17. Instead of being teammates in Memphis like many thought could have happened, apparently Marc wants Pau to play for the San Antonio Spurs.

According to Peter Edmiston covering the Grizzlies for The Commercial Appeal, Marc is very serious about Pau suiting up for Memphis’ Southwest Division rival Spurs in 2016-17.

Perhaps the younger Gasol brother has a point. He’s seen first-hand the type of system in place in San Antonio, as he has spent his entire NBA career in his adopted hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. Nobody does as good of a job handling aging superstars’ minutes as do Gregg Popovich and the Spurs.

While seeing both Gasol Brothers playing together in Memphis as Pau winds down as an NBA player would be very appealing, perhaps four regular season games a year will do should Pau possibly replace the 40-year-old Tim Duncan in 2016-17 should Duncan call it a career after another deep playoff run in San Antonio this spring.
