Jalen Ramsey thinks his impact will be the same as Denver Broncos star Von Miller.

In just a matter of days, Jalen Ramsey is going to be a very wealthy man as he is (barring a major trade or shock from a team) likely going to be the first defensive player selected in the 2016 NFL Draft, kicking off Thursday in Chicago.

While there is virtually no question that Ramsey will be one of the top five picks in the draft, there is some question about where he will play. Ramsey started his career as a shutdown cornerback at Florida State before moving to safety prior to the 2015 season, a move that earned the Seminoles star consensus All-American status.

Jalen Ramsey has been listed at both positions by NFL scouts, leaving the decision up to whichever team drafts him. In an interview with the Fort Worth (TX) Star-Telegram, Ramsey has no doubt he can play either spot in the pros…and even compared his abilities to one of the top defensive players in the game:

"“I can play where they need me to. I feel like I can work outside, in the slot or play deep. I have a lot to learn, have to study receivers, learn the defense I’m in, but I think if I put the work in, I’ll be able to move around if they need me to. But I’ll do whatever a team, or the coaches, want me to do,” Ramsey said.“Most people think just offensive players can make plays, change games, make big plays, but as we saw in the Super Bowl this year, Von Miller, he was the game-changer. He was the playmaker.”"

Miller was a one man wrecking crew during the 2015 season, especially in the biggest game of the season when he had 2.5 sacks and forced two fumbles in the Denver Broncos‘ win in Super Bowl 50, earning the linebacker the MVP award for the game.

While Ramsey still has a long way to go before even being in the same conversation with the elite defensive players (for example, he has to get drafted first), NFL teams will love the confidence coming out of a prospect who won’t have to wait long before hearing his name called.
