Tiger Woods, who has won the tournament three times before, has signed up to play in the 2016 U.S. Open, being played in Oakmont, Pennsylvania.

For golf fans who have been waiting…and waiting…and waiting for the return of legend Tiger Woods to the links, we now know that he seems headed for the next major tournament of the 2016 season. Woods has reportedly registered for the 2016 U.S. Open, being played at the Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania, according to GolfWeek.

Woods has been sidelined since September after having multiple back surgeries to deal with injuries. He missed The Masters earlier this month, the first major tournament he had missed since the 2014 season.

All time, Woods has won three U.S. Open titles and received an exception for this year’s tournament for winning the 2008 title at Torrey Pines. Woods finished tied for second during the 2007 U.S. Open that was held at Oakmont, finishing one stroke behind champion Angel Cabrera.

For his career, Tiger Woods has won 79 total tournaments on the PGA Tour, including 14 majors (with his last victory in a major coming in that epic 2008 U.S. Open).

Woods now must decide if he will play in any tournaments before the June 16-19 major. The two most likely options are either the Wells Fargo Championship next week in Charlotte, NC or The Memorial in early June, where Woods has won five times previously.

Last season, Tiger Woods missed the cut in three of the four majors he played in, only reaching the weekend rounds for The Masters. Just three wins away from tying the PGA Tour’s all-time record, Woods hasn’t won a tournament since the 2013 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
