Jason Terry guarantees Rockets beat Warriors in Game 5

Jason Terry guaranteed a win for the Houston Rockets in their next game against the Golden State Warriors.

The Houston Rockets are in a 3-1 hole as they look to avoid elimination at the hands of the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, but veteran guard Jason Terry isn’t feeling the pressure.

Terry is feeling confident in his team’s chances of pulling the upset against a Warriors team that won’t have the reigning MVP and likely the 2015-2016 MVP, Steph Curry and he’s making a bold claim.

Terry went so far as to guarantee a victory for the Rockets in Game 5 and bring the series back to Houston for a Game 6.

If I don’t, then what? It’s a loss, right, Terry said via Calvin Watkins of ESPN.com. I guarantee victory — that’s what it’s going to take. I believe in my group. I know we can get a win here and send this thing back to Houston.”

This tactic worked for Terry back in 2011 when he was with the Dallas Mavericks and got a tattoo of the Larry O’Brien Trophy before the season started. That season ended with the Mavs beating LeBron James and the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals.

That unbridled confidence has made Terry the player he is that was able to stick around in the NBA for 17 seasons and he doesn’t see any downside in the bold proclamation. It may be wrong and we’ll all laugh at the guarantee, even without Curry on the other side, but if the Rockets force a Game 6, all eyes will be on Terry as we wait for another guarantee.
