Coming off a Pro Bowl season in 2015, Reshad Jones wants a new contract from the Miami Dolphins and plans to sit out until he gets a new deal.

For some NFL players, a big season is the right time to renegotiate their contracts and try to get some more money from their current team. In the case of Miami Dolphins safety Reshad Jones, a successful 2015 season means (in his world) it’s time for the team to crack open their wallets.

According to the Miami Herald, Jones is prepared to sit out as many practices and offseason workouts it takes for him to get a new deal from the team:

Jones was named the team’s co-MVP (along with receiver Jarvis Landry) after a 2015 campaign that saw him explode for 135 tackles, two sacks and a career high five interceptions (two of which Jones returned for touchdowns), becoming the first safety in NFL history to come up with 125+ tackles and five picks.

Jones signed a four year deal in the 2014 offseason with the Miami Dolphins worth $29.28 million. He is due $7.22 million this season and $7.06 million next season, numbers that put him in the top 10 among the league’s safeties.

Jones is sitting out the Dolphins’ veterans workout this week and, according to sources, plans on continuing that holdout until he gets a new deal. In his six seasons in Miami, Jones has over 500 tackles to go with 8.5 sacks and 15 interceptions.
