Denver Broncos talk trade with Philadelphia Eagles about Sam Bradford
The Denver Broncos inquired about the availability of Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford.
Disgruntled quarterback Sam Bradford wants out of Philadelphia, but the Eagles don’t seem too inclined on parting ways with the player they want to be their starting quarterback in 2016.
Bradford demanded a trade after the Eagles moved up to the No. 2 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft to get in position to take either Jared Goff or Carson Wentz. The pick will most likely be Wentz, but no matter who the Eagles take at No. 2, it’s going to be Bradford’s replacement in 2017, at the latest.
One team who could be in the market for a quarterback is the Denver Broncos who lost Peyton Manning to retirement and Brock Osweiler in free agency. the Broncos signed Mark Sanchez in free agency and could add a signal-caller in the first or second round to add competition for Sanchez.
“We’re happy with Mark; I mean Mark was a starting point for us,” John Elway said during a pre-draft meeting with the media. “Now we want to find somebody to come in and compete with him. I know Mark’s excited about being here, we’re excited about having him … That’s why we took our time … We’re going to continue to wait and see.”
According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, the Broncos reached out to the Eagles about a Bradford, but it was a very informal conversation and compensation wasn’t discussed and left the Broncos with the impression they want to keep Bradford.
With Bradford, Colin Kaepernick, Case Keenum, Nick Foles and Ryan Fitzpatrick in limbo until the draft ends on Saturday, the quarterback carousel could be ready to take another spin in May.
