DraftKings Early MLB Picks For April 28

There are only four games in the early tournament today, which limits the amount of options from what we normally have. Since the Cubs/Brewers was rained out last night, we still have one ace taking the mound! Who should you spend on? Let’s hit the stats!

More from DraftKings

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players.

Best Bet:

Jake Arrieta ($13,800): He is coming off of a no hitter and facing the Brewers. Easy pick, right? Not so fast. The Brewers are actually hitting .281 off of him in 89 at bats with two homers and seven RBI with only 14 strikeouts. Still…..it’s the Brewers. I would be foolish not to consider using him.

Honorable Mention:

Anibal Sanchez ($8,100): Despite the success of a couple, Sanchez has actually done pretty well against Oakland. The A’s are hitting .242 off of him in 120 at bats with four homers, 16 RBI and 25 strikeouts. This is be an afternoon full of lackluster SP2 options, and nearly everyone will own Arrieta. This is your chance to separate yourself from the pack……or fail miserably.

Dark Horse:

Chris Bassitt ($6,600): The Tigers are only hitting .176 off of Bassitt in 24 at bats with no homers and four RBI. Bassitt has only rung up two Tigers, so there isn’t a high ceiling here. The bright spot is that Miguel Cabrera is only 1-7 with a RBI against Bassitt. There is potential here for those of you looking to buck a trend.

You have heard our FanDuel experts Matt Rogers and Brian Tulloch talk about “stacking” pieces of a lineup against certain pitchers. Here are the stacks that could work well on DraftKings today, based on past statistics.

Stack some Nationals today against Aaron Nola. The Nats are hitting .364 off of him in 44 at bats with four homers and 12 RBI. Leading the charge is Bryce Harper ($5,200). He is 5-7 with two homers and four RBI against Nola. Daniel Murphy ($4,300) is 2-5 with a double, a triple, and two RBI off Nola. Anthony Rendon ($3,600) is 3-8 with a walk and a solo homer. Jayson Werth ($3,600) is only 2-8, but he has a homer and four RBI.

Coco Crisp ($2,800) is 5-14(.357) with three doubles and a solo home run off of Anibal Sanchez. Chris Coghlan ($3,000) is 2-3 with a homer and two RBI against Sanchez. Billy Burns ($3,700) only has one hit on four at bats, but it was a bases clearing triple.

Here’s something to think about: the Phillies are hitting .422 off of Tanner Roark in 45 at bats. .422! Those are Rogers Hornsby type numbers! Cody Asche has two solo homers off of Roark, so who else do you go to? How about Ryan Howard ($3,500)? Howard is 3-9 with two walks, a homer, and six RBI against Roark. Maikel Franco ($3,800) is 2-3 with three RBI off Roark. Odubel Herrera ($3,800) is 3-4 with two RBI. Stack some Phillies today!

Nick Hundley ($3,700) is a good bet against Juan Nicasio if he is in the lineup. Hundley is 4-13(.308) with a solo homer off Nicasio.

Matt Joyce ($2,600) should be on everyone’s radar if he starts. He is cheap, and it 3-5 with a walk and three RBI in his career against Tyler Chatwood.
