DraftKings Late MLB Picks For April 28

There are only four games in the late tournament as well today, which limits the amount of options from what we normally have. Who should you spend on? Let’s hit the stats!

More from DraftKings

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players.

Kenta Maeda has never faced the Marlins before. He could be worth using here!

Next: Pitcher Picks

Best Bets:

Clay Buchholz ($8,000): The Braves are hitting just .177 in 124 at bats with one homer, eight RBI, and 21 strikeouts off of him. He is the strongest statistical bet of the night. Gordon Beckham has the only home run off of him, his only hit in 11 at bats. Nick Markakis is just 6-41(.146) off of him. The stars seem to be aligned for Buchholz to have a big night, and provides an alternative to the higher owned pitchers.

Michael Wacha ($8,300): The Diamondbacks are only hitting .214 in 28 at bats with a whopping 11 strikeouts off of him, but they have homered twice and driven in seven. That said, A.J. Pollock has one of those homers and three of those RBI. Statistically speaking, Wacha is the one of the safest bets of the night, even against a solid Arizona team.

Honorable Mention:

Jose Fernandez ($11,400): This is a high price to pay, but Fernandez does have decent numbers against the Dodgers. They are hitting .240 off of him in 50 at bats, but they only have one homer and six RBI to 14 strikeouts. His chances for a win against Kenta Maeda are diminished some, but hey, the Marlins beat Clayton Kershaw on Tuesday. Stranger things have happened!

Dark Horse:

Tyler Wilson ($4,800): He has a good matchup against John Danks, and he has done well against the White Sox so far in his career. The Sox are only 3-16(.188) off of him with two RBI. The problem is that Wilson has not recorded one single strikeout in those at bats. If you want to roll the dice tonight, here is your chance.

Next: Who Are The Best Stacks?

You have heard our FanDuel experts Matt Rogers and Brian Tulloch talk about “stacking” pieces of a lineup against certain pitchers. Here are the stacks that could work well on DraftKings today, based on past statistics.

The only true stack out there tonight is of Orioles against John Danks. J.J. Hardy ($2,700) is 9-25(.360) with three walks, four doubles, a homer, and four RBI off of Danks. Nolan Reimold ($3,100) is worth playing if he is in the lineup. Reimold is 8-19(.421) with two walks, a double, a triple, a homer, and three RBI against Danks. Matt Wieters ($3,400) is only 6-27(.222) against Danks, but he has homered twice. Now, if you are thinking about playing Adam Jones ($4,200), don’t. Jones is just 1-33(.030) lifetime against Danks.

Wellington Castillo ($3,200) is only 2-8 off of Michael Wacha, but he does have a homer and three driven in.

Adrian Gonzalez ($3,800) is only 1-7 lifetime off of Jose Fernandez, but that one is a three run home run.

Pablo Sandoval did some damage to Jhoulys Chacin while he was in the NL West, but he is now on the DL. Hanley Ramirez ($4,300) only has one hit off of Chacin in 12 at bats, but it is a two run homer. I would rather use David Ortiz ($4,700) though, who is 1-2 with a walk and a RBI double off of Chacin.

The Cardinals are hitting .410 against Rubby De La Rosa in 39 at bats, but the only home run is by Brandon Moss ($3,700). Matt Carpenter ($4,400) has a walk, a single, two doubles, and a RBI in just six plate appearances.
