DraftKings MLB Picks For April 27

There are14 games in the night tournament (the Padres and Giants play early) tonight, to that means a lot of stats to go through, and a lot of tough decisions to make. Who should you spend on? Let’s hit the stats!

More from DraftKings

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players.

Top prospect Jose Berrios will make his major league debut tonight against the Indians, so no Indians players are on here. Jon Moscot has also never faced the Mets, so they wont make an appearance either. Steven Wright has only faced Braves players nine times, so none of them are present either. Nick Tropeano has only faced Kendrys Morales (0-2) on the whole Royals team. You wont see any of the defending champs either. Jon Gray has only faced the Pirates once in his career, but they came away with a .538 average, a homer, and seven driven in. Consider stacking some Pirates tonight.

Best Bets:

Sonny Gray ($9,800): The Tigers are hitting just .180 with a homer and four RBI to go with 13 strikeouts in 50 at bats. The chances of Gray putting up good numbers are pretty good, even against the Tigers. Only one has hit him well (more on that later). The damage shouldn’t be severe even if some is done.

Gio Gonzalez ($9,600): A couple of Phillies have hit him well, but Gio has been brilliant this year (1-0, 1.42 ERA, .90 WHIP), and the overall numbers off of him are not great. The Phillies are only hitting .225 against him in 178 at bats, but they do have five homers and 19 RBI. However, Gonzalez has racked up 43 strikeouts. This makes him worth the little bit of risk involved.

Honorable Mention:

Jake Arrieta ($13,800): He is coming off of a no hitter and facing the Brewers. Easy pick, right? Not so fast. The Brewers are actually hitting .281 off of him in 89 at bats with two homers and seven RBI with only 14 strikeouts. Still…..it’s the Brewers. I would be foolish not to consider using him.

Collin McHugh ($8,100): McHugh has struggled so far this year (1-3, 7.56 ERA, 2.10 WHIP), but he has solid career numbers against the Mariners. The Mariners are only hitting .214 off of him in 112 at bats, but they have five homers and 13 RBI. They have also struck out 28 times. There is some risk involved in using McHugh, but he is in a pitcher’s park.

Dark Horse:

Patrick Corbin ($7,500): Yes, he is playing the Cardinals, but he has dominated the Cardinals in limited time so far in his career. the Cards are hitting just .160 in 25 at bats wtih a solo home run (by Ruben Tejada) and a whopping ten strikeouts. Considering Wainwright’s less than stellar history against the Diamondbacks, Corbin could be a great play tonight.

You have heard our FanDuel experts Matt Rogers and Brian Tulloch talk about “stacking” pieces of a lineup against certain pitchers. Here are the stacks that could work well on DraftKings today, based on past statistics.

As good as Jose Quintana has been, playing him against the Jays could be a bad idea. They are hitting .289 off him. Yes, Chris Colabello has five of the 15 RBI off of him, but there are still plenty that hit him well. Edwin Encarnacion ($3,700) is 4-13(.308) with two walks, a homer, and two RBI. Josh Donaldson ($4,800) is 3-9 with a solo homer. Jose Bautista ($4,400) only has one hit off of Quintana in ten at bats, but that hit is a two run homer.

Yes a short stack is in order against Jake Arrieta. Ryan Braun ($3,700) is a great bargain today, and is 4-10 with two walks, a homer, and four RBI off of the Cubs ace. Aaron Hill ($2,200) is 7-17(.412) with two doubles and a solo homer against Arrieta.

Elvis Andrus ($3,700) is on a tear anyway, but he is also worth playing because he has hit CC Sabathia hard. Andrus is 10-22(.455) with four RBI off of him. Yes, all ten hits are singles. Adrian Beltre ($4,600) is only 8-34(.235) off of Sabathia, but he has three walks, three doubles, a homer, and five RBI off him. Prince Fielder ($3,700) is only 5-19(.263) against CC, but he has a homer and four RBI.

Jean Segura ($3,800) is 8-19(.421) with a double, a homer, and two RBI off of Adam Wainwright. Wellington Castillo ($3,600) is 7-20(.350) with three doubles and three RBI. Paul Goldschmidt ($4,900) is only 3-9, but he has a double and a solo homer. Wainwright’s numbers against Arizona are much worse if you take out Rickie Weeks and his 7-43 mark against him. If you remove that, Arizona is hitting .368 with two homers and eight RBI in 57 at bats. Stay away from Wainwright.

Jose Altuve ($4,700) is 10-27(.370) with three doubles and five RBI off of Hisashi Iwakuma. Marwin Gonzalez ($2,400) could be a great bargain if he is in the lineup. Gonzalez is 8-14(.571) with a double and a solo homer off of Iwakuma. George Springer, Colby Rasmus, and Luis Valbuena have also homered off of Iwakuma, but they are a combined 5-31 and likely not worth the risk.

The Orioles are hoping that Adam Jones ($3,400) gets going against the Rays. He is 11-24(.458) with a walk, a double, two homers, and seven RBI against Matt Moore. J.J. Hardy is just 6-25(.240), but he has a walk, two doubles, a homer, and five RBI. Really look out for Matt Wieters ($2,700). Wieters is  8-17(.471) with three walks, a double, two homers, and three RBI off of Moore.

Kole Calhoun ($3,900) is a perfect 4-4 with a walk and a solo home run off of Chris Young. Mike Trout ($5,000) only has one hit in six at bats, but it is a home run. Geovany Soto ($2,600) likely will get the start considering he is 4-9 with two homers and six RBI off of Young.

Jonathon Niese has been hit hard by the Rockies, so stack away! Nick Hundley ($3,700) is 5-11(.455) with a walk, a triple, and a RBI. Carlos Gonzalez ($4,200) is 5-16(.313) with two walks, two doubles, a homer, and three RBI against Niese, despite the lefty-lefty matchup. Mark Reynolds ($3,900) is 8-15(.533) with a walk and a pair of solo homers off of Niese. He is a strong bet tonight.

Miguel Cabrera ($3,800) is 3-6 with a homer and two RBI off of Sonny Gray. He could be a huge bargain today.

Joey Votto ($3,400) is another bargain play. He is 3-9 with a walk, a homer, and two driven in off of Matt Harvey. Zack Cozart ($2,500) could be a great bargain as well. He is 4-8 with two doubles off of Harvey.

Nelson Cruz ($3,900) could be a bargain today. He is 4-11(.364) with two homers and three RBI off of Collin McHugh.

Billy Butler ($3,100) has been struggling lately, but should get the start against Justin Verlander. Butler is 34-84(.405) with nine walks, five doubles, two homers, and an impressive 15 RBI against Verlander in his career. You can also consider Coco Crisp ($2,800). Crisp is 10-27(.370) with a walk, a two doubles, a home run, and four RBI against Verlander.

Jayson Werth ($3,800) is 3-9 with two doubles, a homer, and six RBI off of Jeremy Hellickson. Bryce Harper ($5,500) has three hits and three walks in eight plate appearances against Hellickson.

Evan Longoria ($3,400) is 17-51(.333) with five walks, four doubles, seven home runs, and 10 RBI off of Chris Tillman. He has only allowed one more home run to the rest of the current Rays in 121 at bats.

David Ortiz ($4,600) is only 4-15(.267) off of Bud Norris, but he has two homers and four RBI. Hanley Ramirez ($4,100) is 8-17(.471) with a double, a homer, and three RBI off Norris.

Joe Mauer ($3,400) is 7-16(.438) with three RBI against Josh Tomlin. Eddie Rosario ($3,100) has only faced Tomlin twice, but he did hit a solo home run off of him.

Darin Ruf ($3,500) is 9-26(.346) with eight walks, three doubles, three homers, and nine RBI in his career against Gio Gonzalez. Carlos Ruiz ($3,300) is also worth a shot if the Phillies play him. Ruiz is 7-27(.259) with two walks, three doubles, a homer, and five RBI against Gio.

Todd Frazier ($4,000) is only 3-14(.214) off of Marco Estrada, but he does have two homers and four RBI against him.

Good luck out there, and check out our picks for the NBA playoffs and FanDuel baseball!
