In Stephen Curry’s continued absence, an inspired and delusional Jason Terry has guaranteed his Houston Rockets will defeat the Golden State Warriors in Game 5.

Without James Harden’s illegal push-off against Andre Iguodala to bury a game-winning jumper in Game 3, the Houston Rockets may have been eliminated from the 2016 NBA playoffs by the Golden State Warriors already. Based on the most simple attributes you’d expect a playoff team to have, like team chemistry and some mild effort, the Rockets should have been eliminated already.

They’ve benefited from Stephen Curry missing two games, though, who will now be out for another two weeks or so with a Grade 1 MCL sprain. It gives the Rockets a faint glimmer of misguided hope, which prompted Jason Terry to guarantee that Houston will win Game 5.

In fact, as ESPN’s Calvin Watkins confirmed, Terry even said he’s ready to get a tattoo of the championship trophy if the Rockets go all the way.

Clearly he’s incredibly motivated by Curry’s continued absence, hoping for some more offensive magic from Harden and for the rest of the Warriors’ talent to come up short.

Terry is also delusional.

After Curry took a fall on a wet patch of court in Game 4, the rest of the Warriors answered in the best way possible. Draymond Green took more control of the offense, to great effect, and Klay Thompson caught fire as Golden State pushed the pace, sparking a 41-20 win in the third quarter, and going on to set an NBA playoff record with 21 made threes.

Unless the Rockets find some kind of will and effort, Harden has an absolutely brilliant game, and the Warriors go ice-cold, the champs won’t be losing this series any time soon.

With the Warriors ready to fight on in Curry’s absence and end their first round series as quickly as possible, the Rockets don’t have any business competing in this series. A Game 5 win is highly unlikely after they lost Game 4 121-94, and a series win is even further out of the realm of possibility.

Sorry, Jason Terry. You might be waiting a while to get that sweet tattoo.
