Houston Astros– Michael Feliz and Matt Duffy to the Padres for Andrew Cashner

The Houston Astros starting pitching has not been good to start this season. Only Dallas Keuchel has an ERA below 4.00. If the Astros are going to go back to the playoffs, they are going to need more out of the rotation. Yes, Lance McCullers has been injured, but they need more than just his return to the rotation when it happens.

Enter Andrew Cashner.

Yes, I mentioned him for the Orioles earlier, but the Astros are a logical fit as well.

Duffy can go right up to the majors and play in their infield. Even though he is 27, it may be wise to see what he can do over Adam Rosales. Duffy hit .294 last season with an .850 OPS in AAA and hasn’t been given an extended look yet in the majors.

Feliz would give the Padres an arm that may not be too far away. He struggled in his one appearance in

the majors this year and so far in AAA, but he put up very good numbers at the AA level last season and is among the top 10 prospects that the Astros have. If the Padres want, they can bring Feliz up and let him learn at the major league level.
