NFL Draft: Laremy Tunsil mad Titans traded out of top pick
Laremy Tunsil was not happy about the Tennessee Titans trading out of the top pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
The Tennessee Titans decision to trade out of the top spot in the NFL Draft and take a bundle of picks from the Los Angeles Rams looked like a great trade for both parties.
The Rams can draft the franchise quarterback they have sorely missed and the Titans get the ammunition needed to rebuild one of the worst rosters in the NFL and get an infusion of young talent.
But it wasn’t great news for Ole Miss Rebels offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil who was projected to be the top pick of the Titans and give Marcus Mariota another first round pick to protect him. On the eve of the draft, Tunsil spoke about the disappointment over the trade and losing his chance to be the first pick in the draft.
“It’s part of the game, part of the process,” Tunsil said, via NFL.com. “Things happen for a reason, so I’m just going to continue to do my part, whatever team I go to, I’m going to give it my all … just be happy to be part of a team, be happy to be in the NFL is my goal.”
It’s easy to understand Tunsil’s frustration over the trade because it’s quite a special honor to be the first pick or even mentioned as a possible top pick. Nevertheless, he is taking it in stride because he recognizes he will soon be in the NFL and his dream will have come true.
He may not be the No. 1 pick, but Tunsil should still feel pretty happy about being a likely top-10 selection when the draft kicks off on Thursday evening from Chicago.
