New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard hit the streets of New York City dressed as Thor.

Standing a towering 6’6″ and weighing an impressive 242 lbs, Noah Syndergaard is an imposing figure on the mound. For his god-like build and long, golden blonde hair, the Mets’ 23-year old pitcher has garnered the nickname of “Thor”. Syndergaard has since embraced the comparison to the “Norse God”, but took it to a whole new level on Wednesday.

New York City’s newest superhero even took pictures with some of the cartoon characters that populate Times Square on a daily basis.

Syndergaard has certainly earned the comparisons to the “God of Thunder”, consistently throwing a 98-plus mph fastball and a devastating slider that has touched 100mph on multiple occasions. The son of Odin is an early Cy Young candidate with a 1.69 ERA, 38 strikeouts and .98 WHIP in four starts this season.

In addition to Syndergaard, the Mets have one of the best young stables of pitchers with Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom, Steven Matz, and Zack Wheeler. As a staff, the team is fourth in the MLB in ERA, third in strikeouts, and second in walks.

The Mets are currently on a five-game winning streak and are second in the National League East with a 12-7 record. Harvey takes the mound at Citi Field on Wednesday night against the Cincinnati Reds as New York looks for the three-game series sweep.
