The Bears traded up to No. 9 to take Leonard Floyd and Twitter had thoughts on the 2016 NFL Draft pick

The Chicago Bears were originally slated to pick at No. 11 in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. However, with all of the drama happening in the first 10 picks of the round, the Bears saw an opportunity to trade up into that top-10 and assure that they’d get the guy they wanted. As such, the Bears traded with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to move up to the No. 9 pick.

That’s where things only continued to get weird with the 2016 NFL Draft, though, as the Bears used their newly found No. 9 overall pick to take Leonard Floyd out of Georgia—a player that wasn’t projected in the top-10 of this draft by really anyone.

You have to wonder if the Bears thought the Giants wanted Leonard Floyd at No. 10 or if, with the Laremy Tunsil drama and several reaches having already happened, that someone would take Floyd before them. Either way, it’s a bit odd.

With such an odd pick, fans of the Bears and the NFL alike had some things to say about the selection and they took to Twitter to do so.

Here’s what the people of Twitter had to say in reaction to the Bears trading up to take Leonard Floyd at No. 9:

While some of the things said are a bit sensational with everything going as wild as it has, you do have to wonder what happened to make the Bears trade up to No. 9 to take Leonard Floyd when no one had him projected that high. Whatever the case, Floyd is now heading to the Windy City.
