Fans of the Denver Broncos want their team to sign Tim Tebow, who led the team to a playoff appearance during the 2011 season.

As of this moment, the Denver Broncos really don’t have a clue who their starting quarterback will be when the 2016 season opens on September 8th against the Carolina Panthers. After losing Peyton Manning to retirement and Brock Osweiler to free agency, the Broncos are searching for an answer.

The Broncos have already acquired Mark Sanchez in free agency, which would explain why they are still looking. Denver has suppoesdly kicked the tires on everyone from Colin Kaepernick to even Johnny Manziel. Now, some fans want to the team to go back into the past for their future signal-caller.

Broncos supporters have put together an online petition asking the team to sign … wait for it …Tim Tebow! That’s right, the most polarizing player in the NFL over the past six seasons still has quite the support from fans who remember his miraculous wins and playoff run during the 2011 season.

The petition on Change.org reads in part:

"We need a proven winner to continue to move this team in the right direction. Coach Gary Kubiak’s offense would thrive with Tebow under center. He and the legendary John Elway can make this happen. We dont need a subpar throwaway from some other team, we need an original Bronco who has the fire, desire, and love of the game to play as a Bronco again! As a bonus the Bronco fans would be ecstatic! He just wins, we all know this! #TebowTime"

The petition was created over two months ago when news first started to break that Manning was leaning toward retirement. As of Thursday afternoon, it had just 3,648 signatures, so Tebow Nation is going to have some work to do if it wants this to succeed.

A former Heisman Trophy winner and two-time national champion in college with the Florida Gators, Tebow was traded to the New York Jets after the Broncos signed Manning. He spent 2012 with the Jets and the 2013 preseason with the New England Patriots before being without a job in 2014.

Tim Tebow, who has also been working as an analyst for the SEC Network, spend the 2015 preseason with the Philadelphia Eagles, but was one of the final cuts before the season started.
