Paxton Lynch went to the Denver Broncos after they trade up to No. 26 in the NFL Draft and Twitter had thoughts

With how this offseason played out for the Denver Broncos, it was always clear that a quarterback was always going to be in play for them at the back end of the first round in the 2016 NFL Draft. The real questions, though, were what quarterbacks would be available at the No. 31 pick and would it be worth it to take that guy there. The Broncos weren’t wanting to wait to find out once the No. 26 pick came up and Paxton Lynch out of Memphis was still on the board.

Subsequently, Denver pulled the trigger on a big trade to move up from the last pick in the first round to No. 26. They then did as everyone thought they would after seeing the trade, using their new pick on Paxton Lynch to fill the hole left by Peyton Manning retiring and Brock Osweiler signing in Houston.

There were points in the college football season when Lynch was the top quarterback prospect in the 2016 NFL Draft, but things obviously changed. However, he’s still gifted with a prototypical frame and tremendous tools to be an NFL quarterback. With proper development, there’s a chance he could be great.

With the trade up and with such an intriguing player, the reactions on Twitter from Broncos fans and NFL fans were wide-ranging and entertaining. Here’s what Twitter had to say about Denver selecting Paxton Lynch:

There’s nothing weird about that, Rob Longo. Wing Stop is freaking delicious and anyone would be lucky for such a fine establishment to host their NFL Draft party. However, Paxton Lynch might want to get the hot sauce out from under his fingernails and get ready to go up into the altitude—he’s got some pretty big shoes to fill in Denver.
