The Philadelphia Eagles have selected Carson Wentz with the No. 2 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft

After back to back seasons of winning the FCS national championship as the starting quarterback for the North Dakota State Bison, Carson Wentz is now a member of the National Football League. Wentz was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft Thursday.

Height: 6’5″

Weight: 237

40-yard dash: 4.77

Notable stat: Came back from a broken bone in his hand to lead NDSU to a fifth straight national title.

Carson Wentz arrived on the campus of NDSU after a stellar high school career in the state. He redshirted his first season and played sparingly the following two years (which also resulted in national titles for the Bison)

Wentz took over the starting quarterback spot in 2014 and didn’t let the team go backwards, throwing for over 3,100 yards and 25 touchdowns (while also being the second leading rusher on the team with nearly 650 yards and six touchdowns.

Carson Wentz started the first six games of the 2015 season before missing the following eight games with an injury. He returned just in time for the Bison to win their fifth straight national title before heading to the NFL. An impressive performance at workouts and the NFL combine sent Wentz’s stock souring, putting him as a consensus pick to be one of the first names called.

Grade: C+
