Gabrielle Union feud with refs continues as Game 5 no-call on Dwyane Wade confirmed

Dwyane Wade’s wife, Gabrielle Union, is still feuding with NBA referees about a no-call on the Heat guard at a crucial Game 5 moment

As the Miami Heat found themselves in a battle with the Charlotte Hornets late in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference first round series in the 2016 NBA Playoffs, they found themselves trailing by two with less than 30 seconds on the clock. After a largely broken possession, Heat veteran Dwyane Wade got the ball at the short corner and tried to go up into contact to at least draw a foul. His shot missed badly and, though there was no contact, no foul was called on the play:

The Hornets ultimately went on to pick up the crucial Game 5 win on the road and Dwyane Wade, other Miami players, and Heat fans were obviously outraged that they didn’t get a foul call on Wade. No one was more upset, though, than Dwyane Wade’s wife, actress Gabrielle Union, as she went on a long Twitter rant about the transparency of officiating, how bad calls should result in fines, and basically just being angry about the no-call.

So when the NBA came out and confirmed that the referees were right to not call a foul on the play, the official Twitter of NBA Referees tweeted out the link to the NBA press release and saying that officials may not always get it right, “but on this call” they were right. They then tagged Union at the end of the tweet:

Considering how worked up she was after Game 5, you can imagine how well Union took the post. Subsequently, she replied with a great deal of salt as she called the refs’ tweet “cute” before continuing about how transparency doesn’t require sarcasm of “sass” as she called it:

This is the Twitter beef we never knew we needed, but now it should never leave us! Also, maybe don’t drag refs’ names through the mud on social media in front of a large audience that follows you and then get offended when they humorously acknowledge that after they’ve been vindicated. Just a thought.
